Christmas always brings back great memories to me especially those of i and my father.Today i was dancing to Bonny Ms album with my sons.It brought fond memories when i was a boy.Listening to my dad play his albums,bonny m,charlie pride,jim reeves,elvis presley,jimmy cliff.miriam makeba,kamaru,name them.Times he bought us new clothes at deacons and toys from the toy shop in biashara street,nairobi.The nyama chomas at Dagoretti.Dancing at Bomas of kenya and the long winding ride strodding the riftvalley as we visit our grandpas.Those times help me reflect on the beauty of life and always take time to enjoy lt.Now i see myself as a father, age gracefully catching up with me.I tell my boys when you grow up,you will have beards like that guy dancing on the Bonny m Ruspitin song.They laugh and say no way.It is my turn to share such times with them,take them on a visit to their grandparents and stuff that make them happy.It would be a shame if i failed them.Soon they will be bringing their kids to see me.I hope they can always remember to bring along a bottle of wine for me and their mum.(who said an old lion does not eat meat)?My dad closed his eyes,i miss him so so much especially at time like this.I always enjoy listening to Luther Vandross-Dance with my father- at times like this.
That to me is the joy of christmas-undying love for one another,forgetting the past and focusing on the future,been patient and believing in my dreams,a forgiving heart and generous to all,a honest income and sharing all that i can,giving and not expecting anything in return,doing the best i can and striving to be better,making everyday count in a positive way and believing in the impossible.
Christmas need not be complicated,let us make it be the birth of a new beginning in our life.
Merry christmas to you my friend.You make my life special. I cherish all you posts and photos.My year would have been worse of without your input.You have added so much into me.I hope next year brings so much more.
